Not surprisingly, the Sturbridge School Committee (SSC) - chaired by Kate Alexander, has reached out to the community seeking more involvement from residents in the public process attendant to the local school budget. To that end, beyond the standard public meeting posting, Ms. Alexander authorized the following correspondence sent on behalf of the SSC yesterday to over 700 residents that routinely receive Public Service Announcements from me. That correspondence read as follows:
"On behalf of the Sturbridge School Committee, Kate Alexander - Committee Chair, would like to extend an invitation to Sturbridge residents to attend the School Committee's Public Hearing on the PROPOSED FY 2012-2013 SCHOOL BUDGET.
The PUBLIC HEARING will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. in the Burgess Elementary School Library. Your attendance is welcomed."
On a personal note, as a resident with no children in the school system, I wish to extend my sincere thanks to the Sturbridge School Committee for their continuing efforts to regularly promote increased participation in their process for all residents.
In addition to the Sturbridge School Committee meeting, the Town calendar lists the following
