The Resignation of Selectman Ted Goodwin

As many are by now aware, Selectman Ted Goodwin has tendered his resignation as a member of the Board of Selectmen. Ted's resignation from the Board is a tremendous loss for our community and his absence will be felt well beyond any upcoming elections. Ted is a man of great character, integrity, and compassion who brought a sense of dignity and respect to the Board. He has a way of elevating and improving everyone around him. Serving with him these last two years has been a great opportunity for me, as I have come to truly respect him as a colleague and more importantly, admire him as a friend. He is an individual who is always able to find the positive, even in the worst of situations.

Sadly, the demands of Ted's personal and professional life have delivered him to a point, wherein he believes he is unable to adequately discharge his duties and responsibilities on behalf of the residents of this community. It is an act of great selflessness and courage to be able to step away from something he loves as dearly as he does service to his community.

This decision did not come without much personal anxiety for Ted, as his love of our community and its residents has been the foundation of his long-time dedication to us. His departure from the Board is a great loss for all of us. I certainly wish him and his family the very best. It is my hope that those of you who know Ted, will find an opportunity to lend support to him, as he transitions through this very difficult decision.
